The Prince Albert touch:

The poetry anthology, Maskers en mure, has been compiled by Marlene's husband, Daniel Hugo and another poet, Francois de Jongh. The theme is the Covid-19 pandemic. (See the book above.)

There is a story behind this story: The book was published this year by Turksvy Publikasies, a brand-new publishing company established by Marlene and Hannes Visser of the Oudtshoorn Courant.

They launched their company in March 2020, the moment the President announced lock-down. Maskers and mure consists of the work of 142 poets countrywide, 80 well-known, 42 brand-new - the new poets sent their poems for selection by Daniel and Francois. They received over 600 poems from new poets, across South Africa.

It includes poems by Hanli Burger and Marijke Coornaert of Prince Albert. So this book is VERY Prince Albert with works by Daniel, Marlene, Hanli, Marijke as well as Francois... who is father-in-law to Ferdi Coetzee (owner of our local Spar).
