Wifi available in both the House and Cottage.
To ensure uninterrupted comfort, we have now installed a battery/inverter system which will keep on the lights, WiFi and DSTV, even during loadshedding, to make your stay with us super comfortable and memorable.
The house is tastefully decorated in cool Karoo shades. The reed ceilings provide a touch of the old Karoo, while the modern high windows and glass doors allow light to flood the rooms and air-conditioning maintains a comfortable atmosphere in Summer. The lounge is a haven of comfort with a wood-burning combustion stove for Winter days, a flat screen TV with selected DStv channels and a study alcove offering WiFi. The book collection is fluid - a “take one, leave one” library.

There are two spacious en suite bedrooms. The main bedroom has a king-sized, extra length bed and a full bathroom.
The second bedroom offers twin beds and a shower. Both open onto a covered veranda which welcomes the morning sun.
You will find white percale linen and luxurious towels and feather duvets and electric blankets to keep you snug in Winter.
There is an additional guest toilet.
Cooking and dining are well catered for: the kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven, a microwave oven, a full fridge/freezer and there’s a dishwasher too! The view of the hills and Karoo sky makes cooking a delight. A selection of coffees, tea and homemade rusks are provided.
Dine at the breakfast bar, at a table in the open plan dining area or beneath the pergola in the courtyard.
Glass doors open into the enclosed courtyard with its day bed and loungers, a splash pool surrounded by wooden decking, and an outdoor shower. With its view towards the foothills of the Swartberg, this is an ideal place to while away lazy Karoo days and enjoy a braai. The night skies are spectacular.
Set in a secluded garden with safe, covered, off-street parking, Elfen House is within walking distance of restaurants and shops, the famous Gay’s Dairy, our Showroom Theatre, several art galleries and the well-marked walk along Gordon’s koppie.
A laundry service is available at an additional fee.

Both Elfen House and Elfen Cottage take their names from our dear friends Dr Jan and Elf van Heerden and are dedicated to them.
Dr Jan was better known as the prolific writer, Dr Jan van Elfen. He and his wife Elf lived in the house and the cottage was his last consulting room until his retirement in 2007 after which Elf transformed it into a guest cottage. While we have added our own decorative touches to the premises, we have retained the name.
