Welcome to Acacia Cottage
Just a block away from "town" on a little farm with chickens, cats and dogs...
a private, restful retreat from street lights and traffic.
Acacia Cottage is a self-catering private retreat with full aircon, on a small farm in town. The spacious open-plan living-room has a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, a cosy fireplace and comfy couches. The large verandah provides for al fresco eating with braai facilities. There is a big shared swimming pool and beach towels are supplied. Solar power.
Two en-suite bedrooms, with air-conditioning, fans and mosquito nets for summer, heaters, electric blankets and mohair throws for winter, make it an ideal getaway for a family of 4 or 2 couples. Good Wi-Fi.
In addition, attached to the main homestead, Wisteria Annexe has a double bedroom en-suite, which leads onto a large wisteria shaded pergola, ideal for larger families or groups staying in Acacia Cottage. There is Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, kettle and hospitality tray in the Annexe.
Eat alfresco on the vine-covered verandah or in the spacious open-plan living room
which has a cosy wood-burning fireplace for those winter evenings.
Spend your time lazing on the verandah watching the magnificent Karoo sunsets and star-gazing at night;
have a braai or take a dip in the swimming pool.

and is a Jewellery designer, Goldsmith and SilversmithDi van der Riet-Steyn lives in the village of Prince Albert. Creating jewellery out of ‘found’ objects has been an obsession since university. After studying at Stellenbosch, then London and Germany, she worked in Plettenberg Bay, exhibiting widely and doing a lot of commission work. 19 years ago the family came to Prince Albert, where Di has continued to work in both gold and silver. In a “dorp” which is rich in history, one often walks nose down in the veld, searching for that piece… bits of Karoo blue and red shards. I wonder who used that piece of crockery 150 years ago? Someone else’s precious plate or cup, treasures in the ground, discarded in the garbage heap. These little gems are wrapped in pure silver and transformed into wearable Karoo Blues. Your sentimental shard or old jewellery can be transformed into something special. Please contact Di to buy any jewellery viewed or to order something similar. 2-day workshops for 2 people age 14 and up are available. Visit Di's website at Di van der Riet Jewellery
